The Wine Tasting Experience® is an original tasting event that “Strada del Barolo” and “I Vini del Piemonte” organize both for wine-lovers who choose Langhe for their holidays, and wine enthusiasts from all around Europe, who will have the opportunity to attend special events organized in the main capital cities.
Four ways to experience wine
The Wine Tasting Experiences are available all year round, set to four different “formats”: in Italy and abroad, in prearranged dates or completely tailored. The aim is to meet the different needs of the wine lovers.
The first format, the more “traditional”, is the seasonal double calendar with appointments in spring and autumn in some of the most prestigious venues of Langhe: from WiMu to MODA, including wineries and wine shops of the area.
The second option allows tailored tastings for groups of at least six people, who can decide together with the organizers, dates, time, locations and languages (besides Italian: English, French and German) and of course the types of wine to taste.
A third possibility is offered during the great events organized in the Langhe territory: both for Vinum (in May) and the International White Truffle Fair of Alba (October and November) several special appointments are scheduled and included in the event’s calendars.
The fourth format is connected with events for the promotion of Piedmontese wines or during nights dedicated to the regional food and wine products in the main European capitals: the Wine Tasting Experiences in Europe are often followed by friendly gatherings and dinners in the capitals’ restaurants. These offer the perfect occasion to talk about Piedmont which, through Barolo and other great wines, reveals everything it can offer: food, wines, tourist destinations and cultural programmes. The result is a promotional initiative of great effect.
More than a traditional tasting
After the example of the French “Ecole Du Vin”, the appointments are not just a normal tasting in the cellar, which is a typical stop for wine tourists. Here there is the possibility to taste labels from different producers in one single appointment.
An added value is provided by the presence of experts and sommeliers of the area who are able to reveal every secret of the wines and are ready to answer all questions. The meetings include multimedial presentations, maps of the territory, and materials for an in-depth analysis. Some of these materials are given to participants who, in this way, will have the opportunity to use them as guides for their own tastings.
The “teachers” are producers, oenologists or sommeliers with experience and everyone has his personal point of view, from the value of the perfumes in a stem glass of wine to the matching of food and wine, without forgetting the characteristics of the wines in relation with the municipalities where the vineyards are cultivated.
An experience to taste
Questions from the public, in-depth analysis and curiosities, tips on tasting, wines from producers who are always different and, last but not least, the prestigious venues where the tastings are organized: WiMu – the Wine Museum in Barolo, the Regional Winery of Grinzane Cavour, other regional wineries and wine shops including MODA – Palazzo Martinengo Venue of Monforte d’Alba.
All the above mentioned elements make the Wine Tasting Experience® a new way to approach wines as well as a unique occasion to examine in depth every detail of the production of the Langhe and Roero territory.
